     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1735 in the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1740.1 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Forrester of Corstorphine [S., 1633] in February 1742/43.1 He gained the rank of Commander in 1744.1
