     Captain Sir Walter Michael Hungerford Pollen was born on 10 August 1894.2 He was the son of Francis Gabriel Hungerford Pollen and Flora Mary Dunolly.2 He married Rosalind Frances Benson, daughter of Robert Benson, on 2 December 1925.2 He died on 21 June 1968 at age 73.2
     He gained the rank of Captain between 1914 and 1917 in the service of the 2nd Battalion, Scottish Rifles.2 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1917, he was mentioned in despatches and wounded twice.2 He was decorated with the award of the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1915.2 He was in the Egyptian Army with the Sudan Political Service between 1917 and 1926.2 He held the office of County Councillor (C.C.) for Gloucestershire in 1946.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Gloucestershire in 1949.2 He was invested as a Knight Bachelor in 1959.2 He lived at Norton Hall, Mickleton, Gloucestershire, England.1
