He was Pres Imp Tobacco, Chm Cncl and Pro-Chllr Bristol U, dir GWR, Sheriff Bristol , Honour Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) Oxford 1926, Honour Doctor of Law (LL.D.) Bristol in 1899.1 On 19 July 1923 so created.1
