     Sir William Arbuthnot Lane, 1st Bt. was born on 4 July 1856.1 He was the son of Bde. Surg. Benjamin Lane and Caroline Arbuthnot Ewing.1 He married, firstly, Charlotte Jane Briscoe, daughter of John Briscoe, on 25 October 1884.1 He married, secondly, Jane Mutch, daughter of Nathan Mutch, on 26 September 1935.2 He died on 16 January 1943 at age 86.1
     He graduated from London University, London, England, with a Bachelor of Surgery (C.B.)1 He graduated from London University, London, England, with a Masterr of Surgery (M.S.)1 He was created 1st Baronet Lane, of Cavendish Square, London [U.K.] on 19 June 1913.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Army Medical Corps.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.)1

     Isabel Diana Colegate was born on 10 September 1931.1 She was the daughter of Sir Arthur Colegate and Winifred Mary Worsley.1 She married Michael Fenwick Briggs in 1953.1 She died on 12 March 2023 at age 91.1
     She was co-founder of Anthony Blond (London) Ltd, publishers in 1952.1 From 1953, her married name became Briggs.1 She wrote the book The Shooting Party, published 1980.1

     Sir William Arbuthnot Lane, 2nd Bt. was born on 7 July 1897.1 He was the son of Sir William Arbuthnot Lane, 1st Bt. and Charlotte Jane Briscoe.1 He married Fritzi Szamvald, daughter of Captain Fritz Szamvald, on 29 May 1937.1 He died on 26 February 1972 at age 74.2
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.1 He was Staff Captain and DAPM to Provost Marshal of hte UK between 1941 and 1945.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Lane, of Cavendish Square, London [U.K., 1913] on 16 January 1943.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1954.1 He was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)1 On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.2
