George Edward Wentworth Bowyer, 1st Baron Denham was born on 16 January 1886.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Wentworth Grenville Bowyer and Eva Mary Lane.1 He married Hon. Daphne Freeman-Mitford, daughter of Algernon Bertram Freeman-Mitford, 1st Baron Redesdale and Lady Clementina Gertrude Helen Ogilvy, on 27 February 1919.2 He died on 30 November 1948 at age 62.2
George Edward Wentworth Bowyer, 1st Baron Denham was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.2 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1908 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).2 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1910 entitled to practice as a barrister.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.3 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.2 He was decorated with the award of Military Cross (M.C.).2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Buckingham between 1918 and 1937.3 He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary between 1921 and 1923, to the President of the Board of Trade.3 He held the office of Junior Lord of Treasury between 1927 and 1929.3 He was invested as a Knight in 1929.3 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries between 1930 and 1940.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Buckinghamshire.2 He was created 1st Baronet Bowyer, of Weston Underwood, co.
