     John Francis Bowyer was born on 11 January 1893.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Wentworth Grenville Bowyer and Eva Mary Lane.2 He married Violet Shakespear, daughter of Maj.-Gen. George Robert James Shakespear, on 3 July 1919.1 He died in May 1974 at age 81.1
     John Francis Bowyer gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the service of the Royal Navy (Emergency List).1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1928 entitled to practice as a barrister.1 He held the office of Bencher of Lincoln's Inn in 1952.1 He held the office of Registrar of the High Court of Bankruptcy in 1953.1 He was Chief Registrar and Clerk of the Restrictive Practices Court in 1957.3 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1966.1
