Sir James Stuart Coats, 3rd Bt. was born on 13 April 1894.2 He is the son of Sir Stuart Auchincloss Coats, 2nd Bt. and Jane Muir Greenlees.1 He married Lady Amy Gwendoline Gordon-Lennox, daughter of Charles Henry Gordon-Lennox, 8th Duke of Richmond and Hilda Madeline Brassey, on 11 December 1917.2 He died on 26 October 1966 at age 72.2
