     Sir John William Buchanan-Jardine of Castlemilk, 3rd Bt. was born on 7 March 1900.2 He was the son of Sir Robert William Buchanan Jardine of Castlemilk, 2nd Bt. and Ethel Mary Piercy. He married, firstly, Jean Barbara Hamilton, daughter of Lord Ernest William Hamilton and Pamela Campbell, on 8 June 1921.1 He and Jean Barbara Hamilton were divorced in 1944.1 He married, secondly, Prudence Audrey Haggie, daughter of William Haggie, on 12 December 1944.2 He died on 5 November 1969 at age 69.1
     Sir John William Buchanan-Jardine of Castlemilk, 3rd Bt. was baptised with the name of John William Jardine.3 He was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.2 He was Master of the Foxhounds, Dumfries-shire in 1921.2 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.3 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Jardine, of Castlemilk, co. Dumfries [U.K., 1885] on 30 January 1927.3 On 26 December 1927 his name was legally changed to John Wlliam Buchanan-Jardine.1 He was head of the firm of Jardine, Matheson, China merchants.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1934.2 He was Joint Master of the New Forest Buckhounds between 1936 and 1938.2 He wrote the book Hounds of the World, published 1937.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1940 in the service of the Royal Horse Guards.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Horse Guards.2 He was admitted to Royal Company of Archers.2
