     Jessie Johnstone is the daughter of William Johnstone.¹ She married James Jardine, son of David Jardine and Rachel Johnstone, on 27 April 1846.¹
     From 27 April 1846, her married name became Jardine.

     David Jardine of Jardinehall was born on 4 August 1847.¹ He was the son of James Jardine and Jessie Johnstone.¹ He married Mary Angela Bright, daughter of Sir Charles Tilston Bright, on 14 January 1886.¹ He died on 23 August 1922 at age 75,, leaving issue.¹
     David Jardine of Jardinehall graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).¹ He was barrister.¹ He was recognised by the Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Office in 1896.¹ He lived at Jardinehall, Lockerbie, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.¹

     John Medhope married Myriam Harris, daughter of Thomas Harris.¹

     Mary Angela Bright was the daughter of Sir Charles Tilston Bright.¹ She married David Jardine of Jardinehall, son of James Jardine and Jessie Johnstone, on 14 January 1886.¹ She died on 1 April 1924.¹
     From 14 January 1886, her married name became Jardine.

     Sir Robert Jardine of Castlemilk, 1st Bt. was born on 24 May 1825.¹ He was the son of David Jardine and Rachel Johnstone.¹ He married Margaret Seton Hamilton, daughter of John Buchanan Hamilton, in April 1867.¹ He died on 17 February 1905 at age 79.¹
     Sir Robert Jardine of Castlemilk, 1st Bt. was head of the firm of Jardine, Matheson, China merchants in 1865.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Ashburton between 1865 and 1868.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Dumfries Burghs between 1868 and 1874.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Dumfries-shire between 1880 and 1892.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Jardine, of Castlemilk, co. Dumfries [U.K.] on 20 July 1885.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Perthshire.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Perthshire.¹

     Margaret Seton Hamilton was the daughter of John Buchanan Hamilton.¹ She married Sir Robert Jardine of Castlemilk, 1st Bt., son of David Jardine and Rachel Johnstone, in April 1867.¹ She died on 7 March 1868.¹
     From April 1867, her married name became Jardine.

     Sir Robert William Buchanan Jardine of Castlemilk, 2nd Bt. was born on 21 January 1868.¹ He was the son of Sir Robert Jardine of Castlemilk, 1st Bt. and Margaret Seton Hamilton.¹ He married Ethel Mary Piercy, daughter of Benjamin Piercy, on 4 July 1894.¹ He died on 30 January 1927 at age 59.¹
     Sir Robert William Buchanan Jardine of Castlemilk, 2nd Bt. was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.¹ He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.¹ He was head of the firm of Jardine, Matheson, China merchants.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 1st Battalion, Dumfriesshire Voluntary Regiment.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 3rd Volunteer Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Jardine, of Castlemilk, co. Dumfries [U.K., 1885] on 17 February 1905.¹
