Lt.-Cdr.Sir George Frederick Thomas Tankerville Johnstone, 9th Bt. was born on 1 August 1876. He was the son of Lt.-Col. George Charles Keppel Johnstone and Agnes Caroline Chamberlayne. He married Ernestine Anne Porcelli-Cust, daughter of Lt.-Col. Allan Roger Charles Porcelli-Cust and Alice Marian Porcelli-Cust, on 23 July 1901. He died on 9 January 1952 at age 75.
Lt.-Cdr.Sir George Frederick Thomas Tankerville Johnstone, 9th Bt. gained the title of 9th Baronet Johnstone. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the service of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
