     Captain Bernard John Hamilton Ward was born on 13 March 1875.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Bernard Edward Ward and Charlotte Eugenia Smith.1 He married Annie Lilias Dalyell, daughter of Ralph Dalyell, on 4 November 1908.1 He died on 20 September 1938 at age 63.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1

     Annie Lilias Dalyell was the daughter of Ralph Dalyell.1 She married Captain Bernard John Hamilton Ward, son of Lt.-Col. Bernard Edward Ward and Charlotte Eugenia Smith, on 4 November 1908.1 She died in 1978.1
      From 4 November 1908, her married name became Ward.1

     Lt.-Cdr. Bernard Ralph Henry Ward was born on 4 April 1911.1 He is the son of Captain Bernard John Hamilton Ward and Annie Lilias Dalyell.1 He married, firstly, Tamara Estrya Jasvoin in 1943.1 He and Tamara Estrya Jasvoin were divorced in 1951.1 He married, secondly, Mariot Violet Rimington, daughter of Captain Percy William Rimington, on 22 June 1955.1 He married, thirdly, Daphne Thalia Lumsden, daughter of John Lumsden, on 8 June 1961.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1946.1 He was in the Civil Service in 1957.1 He adopted John Louis Frederic Ward. He lived in 1999 at Trott's Close, Trott's Lane, Westerham, Kent, England.1

Admiral Sir Charles Napier, Count Napier St. Vincent1

     Admiral Sir Charles Napier, Count Napier St. Vincent was born on 6 March 1786 at Merchistoun Hall, Stirlingshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Captain Hon. Charles Napier and Christian Hamilton.2 He married Frances Elizabeth Younghusband, daughter of Captain George Younghusband, on 12 June 1815 at Holy Trinity, Gosport, Hampshire, England.1,3 He died on 5 November 1860 at age 74.1
      In 1816 he sold Merchiston Hall, Stirlingshire.3 He gained the rank of Admiral in February 1833 in the service of the Portugese Navy He was offered the command of the Portugese fleet, and left England under the name of Carlos de Ponza to avoid the Foreign Enlistment Act.3 He was created Viscount of Cape St. Vincent [Portugal].3 He was created Count Napier St. Vincent [Portugal].3 Circa 1836 he purchased the small estate, Quallet's Grove, Catherington, Hampshire, which he renamed Merchistoun.3

Frances Elizabeth Younghusband1

     Frances Elizabeth Younghusband was the daughter of Captain George Younghusband.2 She married, firstly, Lieutenant Edward Elers before 1813.2 She married, secondly, Admiral Sir Charles Napier, Count Napier St. Vincent, son of Captain Hon. Charles Napier and Christian Hamilton, on 12 June 1815 at Holy Trinity, Gosport, Hampshire, England.2,1 She died on 19 December 1857.2
      Frances Elizabeth Younghusband also went by the nick-name of Eliza.2 From before 1813, her married name became Elers.2 From 12 June 1815, her married name became Napier.2 She had four children by her first husband, who all took the surname of Napier.1
