     Major Bernard Maxwell Ward was born on 28 April 1921.1 He was the son of Maxwell William Bernard Ward and Ruth Elizabeth Whittingdale.1 He married Sunniva Neven-Spence, daughter of Sir Basil Hamilton Hebden Neven-Spence, on 1 June 1948.1 He died in 1991.1
     Major Bernard Maxwell Ward was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 4th Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery.1 He was admitted to London Stock Exchange.1
