     James Stuart was the son of Robert Stuart, 7th Lord Blantyre and Margaret Hay.1 He died on 15 March 1781 at Guildford, North Carolina, U.S.A.G, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards.2 He fought in the Battle of Guildford on 15 March 1781.1
