     Admiral Oliver Backhouse fought in the Somaliland Campaign in 1904, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was Commander of the 2nd Naval Brigade, Antwerp and Dardanelles between 1914 and 1915 when he was mentioned in despatches twice more.¹ He was decorated with the award of Legion of Honour.¹ He was decorated with the award of Croix de Guerre.¹ He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1915.¹ He was Commander of the H.M.S. Orion in 1916 during the Battle of Jutland, for which he was again mentioned in despatches.¹ He was decorated with the award of Silver Medal of Italy.¹ He was Commander of the H.M.S. Royal Sovereign in 1920 during the occupation of Constantinople.¹ He was Superintendant of the Sheerness Dockyard between 1923 and 1925.¹ He was Admiral Superintendant of the Devonport Dockyard between 1927 and 1931.¹

     Margaret Susan Perrins was the daughter of Charles William Dyson Perrins.¹ She married Admiral Oliver Backhouse, son of Sir Jonathan Edmund Backhouse, 1st Bt. and Florence Trelawny, on 15 December 1920.¹ She died on 26 November 1973.¹
     From 15 December 1920, her married name became Backhouse.¹

     Edeltraud Margaretha Perz is the daughter of Hofrat Dr. Hans Perz.¹ She married Richard Miles Backhouse, son of Admiral Sir Roger Roland Charles Backhouse and Dora Louise Findlay, on 21 December 1951.¹
     From 21 December 1951, her married name became Backhouse.¹ She lived in 2003 at 73 Divinity Road, Oxford, OXfordshire, England.¹
