     Katherine Kennedy is the daughter of Gilbert Kennedy, 3rd Earl of Cassillis and Margaret Kennedy.1 She married Sir Patrick Vaus, Lord Barnbarroch, son of John Vaus of Barnbarroch and Janet McCulloch, in 1573.1

     Sir John Vans of Barnbarroch was born circa 1574.2 He was the son of Sir Patrick Vaus, Lord Barnbarroch and Katherine Kennedy.1 He married Margaret Macdowall, daughter of Uchtred Macdowall, 10th of Garthland and Margaret Stewart, before 1597.1,2 He died in 1642.1
     He was Commendator of Crossraguel in 1587.2 He held the office of Gentleman of the Chamber, to King James VI and I.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire between 1617 and 1621.1
