     Lt.-Gen. Sir James Melville Babington was born on 31 July 1854.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Babington and Augusta Mary Melville.2 He married Eleanor Lawson, daughter of Thomas J. Lawson, on 9 June 1897.3 He died on 15 June 1936 at age 81.2
     He was educated at Wimbledon College, Wimbledon, London, EnglandG.4 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1901.4 He was Commandant of the New Zealand Defence Forces between 1902 and 1907.4 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches eight times.4 He was commander of the 23rd Division between 1914 and 1918.4 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1917.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1919.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Roxburghshire.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the 16th Lancers.3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Roxburghshire.3 He lived at Pinnacle Hill, Roxburghshire, Scotland.3

     Lt.-Col. Hon. Michael Thomas Henderson was born on 2 January 1906.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Harold Greenwood Henderson and Lady Violet Charlotte Dalzell.1,2 He married, firstly, Oonagh Evelyn Brassey, daughter of Lt.-Col. Harold Ernest Brassey and Lady Norah Hely Hutchinson, on 14 January 1929.1 He and Oonagh Evelyn Brassey were divorced in 1948.1 He married, secondly, Esther Isabelle Coleman, daughter of Alfred Edward Coleman, on 9 June 1948.2 He died on 19 November 1953 at age 47.2
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 16/15th Lancers (Reserve.)1 On 24 December 1934 he was granted the rank of a baron's younger son.2

     Agnes Herries, Lady Herries of Terregles was born circa 1534.1 She was the daughter of William Herries, 3rd Lord Herries of Terregles and Catherine Kennedy.1 She married Sir John Maxwell, son of Robert Maxwell, 4th Lord Maxwell and Janet Douglas, before 18 December 1547.1 She died on 14 March 1593/94.1
     She succeeded as the 4th Lady Herries of Terregles [S., 1490] on 26 September 1543, suo jure.1 From before 18 December 1547, her married name became Maxwell.
