     William Borthwick, 4th of Soltray and Johnstonburn was the son of William Borthwick, 3rd of Soltray and Johnstonburn and Katherine Crichton.1,2 A contract for the marriage of William Borthwick, 4th of Soltray and Johnstonburn and Barbara Lawson was signed on 22 December 1584. He died on 21 January 1640.1,2
     He lived at Soltray, ScotlandG.1 On 14 July 1604 he was forfeited by Parliament.1

Major William Borthwick of Johnstonburn1

     Major William Borthwick of Johnstonburn was the son of Colonel William Borthwick, 5th of Soltray and Johnstonburn and Janet Lies.2 He married Marion Moorhead on 28 April 1665 at Duddingston, Midlothian, ScotlandG.3 He died between 7 June 1687 and 28 June 1690.3
     He gained the rank of Major in the Scottish Army.1 He succeeded as the 10th Lord Borthwick [S., 1452] between 1673 and 1675, although he never claimed the title.3 He lived at Soltray, ScotlandG.1

     Robert Borthwick was baptised on 7 June 1687.1 He was the son of Major William Borthwick of Johnstonburn and Marion Moorhead.1 He died before 1706, without issue.2
