Colonel William Borthwick of Johnstonburn1

     Colonel William Borthwick of Johnstonburn was baptised on 8 February 1666.1 He was the son of Major William Borthwick of Johnstonburn and Marion Moorhead.1 He married Jean Ker, daughter of Robert Ker.1 He died on 23 May 1706 [O.S. 12 May 1706] at age 40, killed in action, without issue.1
     He succeeded as the 11th Lord Borthwick [S., 1452] between 1687 and 1690, although he never claimed the title.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1689 in the Cameronian Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the British Army.1 He lived at Soltray, ScotlandG.1 He lived at Johnstonburn, ScotlandG.1 He fought in the Battle of Ramilles on 23 May 1706 [O.S. 12 May 1706].1

     William Borthwick of Pilmuir and Mayshiell was the son of Alexander Borthwick and Sibilla Cairns.1 He married, secondly, Marjory Steuart, daughter of Harie Steuart. He married, firstly, Marion Borthwick, daughter of James Borthwick and Marietta Merchiston.2 He married Eupheme Young.2
     He was registered as a Member, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (M.R.C.S.E.) on 15 November 1665.3 He was Deacon of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh between 1675 and 1677.3 He was Deacon of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh between 1681 and 1683.3 He gained the rank of Surgeon-Major in 1686 in the Forces of Scotland.2 He lived at Mayshiell, ScotlandG.2 He lived at Pilmuir, ScotlandG.1

     Captain Henry Borthwick of Pilmuir was the son of William Borthwick of Pilmuir and Mayshiell and Marjory Steuart.1,2 He married Mary Pringle, daughter of Sir Robert Pringle of Stichill, 1st Bt. and Margaret Hope.1 He died on 27 May 1706 [O.S. 16 May 1706], from wounds received in action.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Scottish Army.2 He succeeded as the 12th Lord Borthwick [S., 1452] on 23 May 1706, although he never claimed the title.1 He fought in the Battle of Ramilles on 23 May 1706 [O.S. 12 May 1706].1

     Sir Robert Pringle of Stichill, 1st Bt. is the son of John Pringle and Margaret Scott.2 He married Margaret Hope, daughter of Sir John Hope of Craighall, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Murray, in 1660.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Roxburghshire in 1678.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Roxburghshire in 1683.1 He succeeded as the 1st Baronet Pringle, of Stichill [Nova Scotia] on 5 January 1682/83.1
