     Major Rupert Henry Blackett was born on 13 February 1911.1 He was the son of Sir Hugh Douglas Blackett, 8th Bt. and Helen Katharine Lowther.1 He married Felicity Mary Audley Scudamore-Smith, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Alfred Scudamore-Smith, on 11 January 1941.1 He died in 1992.1
     Major Rupert Henry Blackett was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Lincoln College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1932 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Durham Light Infantry.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1942, where he was wounded twice.1
