John Browne was born before 1707. He was the son of John Browne and Juliana Bellew.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Dodwell, daughter of Henry Dodwell and Catharine Ormsby, on 30 June 1722.2 He married, secondly, Catherine Blake, daughter of Sir Walter Blake, 6th Bt. and Agnes Blake, after 1739.2 He died on 2 October 1762.2
John Browne held the office of Sheriff of County Mayo in 1731.2 He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Browne, of the Neale, near Ballinrobe, co. Mayo [N.S., 1636] on 8 May 1737, although he did not assume the title.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Castlebar [Ireland] between 1740 and 1760.2
