     Hon. Gilbert Neville Smyth was born on 23 October 1864.1 He was the son of Florance George Henry Irby, 5th Baron Boston and Hon. Augusta Caroline Saumarez.1 He married Esmé Edwards, daughter of George Oldham Edwards and Emily Frances Way, on 1 January 1891.1 He died on 13 February 1940 at age 75.1
     He was given the name of Gilbert Neville Irby at birth.1 On 16 April 1915 his name was legally changed to Gilbert Neville Smyth by Royal Licence.1 He was an Honourable Attaché in the Diplomatic Service.1 He lived at Braeside, Bangor, Caernarvonshire, Wales.1
