     John Galwey was born in 1761.1 He was the son of John Galwey and Jane O'Bryen.1 He married, secondly, Emily Gould, daughter of Ignatius Gould.1 He married, firstly, Alice Butler, daughter of James Butler and Mary Keating, on 2 May 1785.2 He died on 17 March 1844.1
     John Galwey gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 75th Regiment.1 He retired from the military in 1783.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He lived at Rocklodge, Monkstown, County Cork, Ireland.3 He lived at Doon, County Clare, Ireland.1
