William fitz Nicholas is the son of Nicholas fitz Maurice, 2nd Baron of Kerry and Lixnaw and Slany O'Brien.1
In 1325 at Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland, he killed Dermond Og MacCarthy, Chief of the MacCarthys, in court before the Judge of Assize. For this, he was blinded and his lands forfeited (but he was not executed).1
