     Sir John Blunden, 3rd Bt. was born on 21 December 1814 at County Kilkenny, Ireland.1 He was the son of William Pitt Blunden and Harriet Pope.1 He married Elizabeth Knox, daughter of Major John Knox and Catherine Chaloner, on 22 April 1839 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England.1,2 He died on 27 January 1890 at age 75.3,4
     Sir John Blunden, 3rd Bt. succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Blunden, of Castle Blunden, co. Kilkenny [I., 1766] on 1 March 1818.1 He was admitted to King's Inn, Dublin in 1836.2 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn on 3 April 1838.2 He was a practising barrister in 1840.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1 He held the office of Sheriff of Kilkenny city between 1843 and 1844.2 He held the office of Sheriff of County Kilkenny in 1847.2
