Sir Thomas Burnett of Leys, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir Alexander Burnett of Leys, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Coutts.2 He married Hon. Margaret Arbuthnott, daughter of Robert Arbuthnott, 2nd Viscount of Arbuthnott and Lady Elizabeth Keith, in 1677.1 He died in 1714.2
He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Burnett, of Leys, co. Kincardine [N.S., 1626] in 1663.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kincardineshire [Scotland] between 1689 and 1707.3 He was a zealous opponent of the Scottish Union.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kincardineshire from 1707 to 1708.3
