Thomas Macaulay Booth was born on 10 April 1874 at Switzerland.1,2 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Charles Booth and Mary Catherine Macaulay.1 He married Elizabeth Alice Powell, daughter of Captain William Henry Theodore Tyndale Powell, on 21 June 1902.1 He died on 24 February 1970 at age 95.1
Thomas Macaulay Booth was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.1 He was a director of the Alfred Booth & Company of Liverpool.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Gordon Highlanders.1 He fought in the First World War in 1914, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He was Brigade-Major of the 174th Infantry Brigade, British Expeditionary Force between 1914 and 1916.1 He was commander of the 7th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders in 1916.1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) (and bar) in 1917.1 He was decorated with the award of Officer, Order of the Crown of Belgium.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Leicestershire in 1932.1
