     Sir Hugo Robert Brooke Boothby, 14th Bt. was born on 10 August 1907.1 He was the son of Sir Seymour William Brooke Boothby, 13th Bt. and Clara Margaret Valpy.1 He married Evelyn Ann Homfray, daughter of Herbert Charles Richards Homfray, on 11 June 1938.1 He died in 1986.1
     Sir Hugo Robert Brooke Boothby, 14th Bt. was educated at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England.1 He was educated at Hertford College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1942 in the service of the 53rd (Welsh) Division, Royal Artillery.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1942 and 1944.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Glamorgan in 1950.1 He succeeded to the title of 14th Baronet Boothby, of Broadlow Ash, co. Derby [E., 1660] on 17 March 1951.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Glamorgan in 1953.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of South Glamorgan in 1953.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of South Glamorgan between 1957 and 1974.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of South Glamorgan between 1974 and 1986.1
