     Sir Thomas Vansittart Bowater, 1st Bt. was born on 29 October 1862.1 He was the son of William Vansittart Bowater and Eliza Jane Davey.1 He married, firstly, Emily Margaret Spencer, daughter of John Spencer, on 8 June 1887.1 He married, secondly, Alice Mary Hoskins, daughter of Samuel Hoskins, on 12 August 1925.2 He died on 28 March 1938 at age 75.2
     Sir Thomas Vansittart Bowater, 1st Bt. held the office of Lieutenant of the City of London.1 He held the office of Sheriff of London between 1905 and 1906.1 He was invested as a Knight in 1906.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London between 1913 and 1914.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the service of the 10th Royal Fusiliers (City of London).1 He was created 1st Baronet Bowater, of Hill Crest, Croydon [U.K.] on 16 July 1914.1 He was decorated with the award of Commander, Order of Leopold of Belgium.1 He was decorated with the award of Commander, Order of Dannebrog (1st class).1 He was decorated with the award of Officer, Order of the Crown of Belgium.1 He was decorated with the award of Commander, Legion of Honour.1 He was decorated with the award of Knight, Order of St. Olaf of Norway (1st class).1 He was decorated with the award of Grand Commander, Order of the Redeemer of Greece.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for the City of London between 1924 and 1938.1

     Sir Frederick William Bowater was born on 8 June 1867.1 He was the son of William Vansittart Bowater and Eliza Jane Davey.1 He married Alice Emily Sharp, daughter of Joseph Sharp, on 25 September 1890.1 He died on 16 May 1924 at age 56.1
     Sir Frederick William Bowater was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1920.1
