     Lt.-Col. James Duff of Knockleith was born on 22 May 1820.2 He was the son of Garden Duff, 8th of Hatton and Louisa Dunbar.2 He married Jane Bracken Dunlop, daughter of Alan Colquhoun Dunlop, in April 1855.2 He died in 1898.2
     Lt.-Col. James Duff of Knockleith gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 74th Regiment.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Banff, Moray and Nairn Militia.3 He lived at Knockleith, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.3

     Jane Bracken Dunlop is the daughter of Alan Colquhoun Dunlop.1 She married Lt.-Col. James Duff of Knockleith, son of Garden Duff, 8th of Hatton and Louisa Dunbar, in April 1855.1

     Reverend Garden Llanoe Duff was born on 9 May 1858 at Turriff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. James Duff of Knockleith and Jane Bracken Dunlop.1 He married Elizabeth Dunlop, daughter of Andrew Anderson Dunlop of Keppoch, younger, on 7 October 1885.1 He died on 13 November 1938 at age 80 at Orpington, Kent, England.1
     Reverend Garden Llanoe Duff graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1884 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).2 He was the Rector between 1888 and 1923 at St. Congan, Turiff, Scotland.2 He held the office of Canon of Aberdeen between 1922 and 1923.2

     Elizabeth Dunlop was the daughter of Andrew Anderson Dunlop of Keppoch, younger.2 She married Reverend Garden Llanoe Duff, son of Lt.-Col. James Duff of Knockleith and Jane Bracken Dunlop, on 7 October 1885.1 She died on 14 July 1944.3
     From 7 October 1885, her married name became Duff.1
