     Adam Hepburn of Smeaton Hepburn is the son of Sir Patrick Hepburn of Waughton and Luffness and Helen Hepburn.1 He married Isabella Preston, daughter of John Preston of Craigmillar.1
      He supported Mary, Queen of Scots, whom he joined after her escape from Loch Leven.1 In 1538 granted by his father the lands of Smeaton and other lands.1 He fought in the Battle of Langside in 1568, and with other of his relatives was indicted for treason.1
