Hugh William Mackenzie Rose1

     Hugh William Mackenzie Rose was born in 1913.1 He was the son of Vice-Admiral Sir Frank Forrester Rose and Freda Edith Gordon.1 He died on 23 October 1941, killed in action on board H.M.S. Cossack.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1938 in the Royal Navy, on board H.M.S. Sheldrake.2 He fought in the Second World War.1 He wrote the book Spring Deferred, published 1945 at London, EnglandG, published by EME Rose.2

     Laurence Oliphant of Newton and of Thrumster was the son of William Oliphant of Newton and Margaret Oliphant.2 He married Mary Rollo, daughter of Andrew Rollo, 6th of Duncrub.1 He died before 1605.1
     At Thrumster, Caithness, ScotlandG, (an unknown value.)1 Laurence Oliphant of Newton and of Thrumster also went by the nick-name of Lang.1

     Laurence Oliphant, 1st of Gask is the son of Laurence Oliphant of Newton and of Thrumster and Mary Rollo.2 He married Lilias Graham, daughter of George Graham, 2nd of Inchbrakie and Marjory Rollo, on 10 June 1606.1
     He purchased Gask, Perthshire from Laurence Oliphant, 5th Lord Oliphant.1

     Lilias Graham is the daughter of George Graham, 2nd of Inchbrakie and Marjory Rollo.2,3 She married, firstly, William Colville of Condie.1 She married, secondly, Laurence Oliphant, 1st of Gask, son of Laurence Oliphant of Newton and of Thrumster and Mary Rollo, on 10 June 1606.1
     Her married name became Colville.1 From 10 June 1606, her married name became Oliphant.1

     Sir Laurence Oliphant, 2nd of Gask was the son of Laurence Oliphant, 1st of Gask and Lilias Graham.2 A contract for the marriage of Sir Laurence Oliphant, 2nd of Gask and Lilias Oliphant was signed on 19 February 1634.1 He died on 20 July 1679.1
     He had four other sons (who died unmarried) and two other daughters.1
