Sir Gilbert fitz John was born illegitimately.2 He is the son of John fitz Thomas.1 He married Ellen M'Carthy, daughter of unknown MacCarthy.
Eldest of the four (or five) possibly illegitimate sons of John FitzThomas, Lord of Connello, and jure wcorU of Decies and Desmond.3 Granted lands at Meane and Mahowna~h by his cousin.3 Traditionally his mother was the wife of O'Cuinnin.2 Known as Gibbon O'Cumne (the name of his fosterer.3

Ellen M'Carthy is the daughter of unknown MacCarthy.2 She married Sir Gilbert fitz John, son of John fitz Thomas. She married Thomas FitzMaurice, son of Sir Gilbert fitz John.3

Honora O'Connor is the daughter of Hugh O'Connor.1 She married John fitz Thomas, son of Thomas fitz Maurice and Ellinor de Marisec.2
The descendants of the three Knights have been styled as such by Acts of Parliament.2 Patents under the Great Seal and in legal proceedings for many centuries (though not.2 Which he had founded that year. Tradition says he had four (possibly five) illegitimate sons by four different mothers.2 Three of whom he made knights by virtue of his royal status as a Count Palatine.2 FitzGerald.2 Seems to have been adopted at some point in the 16th century. JOHN Fitz THOMAS's sons were.2 Curiously and rather Irishly.2 Though this does not necessarily mean the titles were not in use earlier. The surname now in use.2 Or of Phelim MacHugh.2 The O'Connor Don.2 Daughter either of Hugh.2 The O'Connor Kerry.2 She lived Connaught.2 Being buried in the Dominican Abbey in Tralee.2 She was County Kerry.2 And was killed at Callan in Glennaraghta by the McCARTHYs.2 On 19 July 1333 though other sources say they were knighted by EDWARD III at the Battle of Halidon Hill . The knighthoods probably became hereditary by long usage because the heads of these junior branches of the Geraldine family were almost always so created on.2 In 1401 actually referred to as ‘Sir Desmond FitzGerald' (or whoever) in speech or writing). The first authentic record of the use of the title White Knight is in.2 She lived in 1424 Knight of Glin (the Black Knight) in and of Knight of Kerry (the Green Knight) in 1468.2

Traditionally hiis mother was the wife of O'Coileáin.1 Sir John fitz John, 1st Knight of Glin also went by the nick-name of 'Sean mor na Surzainge' (or in English, of the girdle).3 Circa 1260 he held the lands and probably built the castles at Glyn and Beagh.3 In 1307 he had commisioned to capture certain outlaws.3 He was created 1st Knight of Glin either created by King Edward III after the Battle of Halidon Hill, or by virute of his father's status as a Count Palatine on 19 July 1333.1

Maurice fitz John was the son of John fitz Thomas and Margery fitz Thomas.2 He married Mathilda de Barry, daughter of Sir John Barry, 2nd Lord Barry and Beatrice (?).3 He died on 23 July 1261 at Callan, County Kerry, Ireland, killed in action in an encounter with the MacCarthys of Carbery, along with his father.1

Sir Thomas fitz Anthony died before 26 April 1227.1
Sir Thomas fitz Anthony held the office of Seneschal of Leinster.1 On 3 July 1215 he obtained a grant from King John of the custody of Counties Waterford and Desmond (except the city of Waterford), and the castles of Waterford and Dungarva and the city of Cork, at a rent of 250 marks per year.1 On 4 July 1216 he obtained the custody of the lands of Thomas fitz Morice.1
