     Dr. John Rye was born in 1767 at Halesworth, Suffolk, England.1 He married Anne Brograve, daughter of Sir Berney Brograve, 1st Bt. and Jane Hawker.1 He died in 1855 at Bathwick, Somerset, England.1
     In 1839 he founded the Shipwrecked Fishermen & Mariners Royal Benevolent Society.1
