     Joseph William Alexander Butler-Sloss was born on 16 November 1926.2 He is the son of Francis Alexander Sloss and Alice Mary Frances Violet Patchell.2 He married Dame Ann Elizabeth Oldfield Havers, Baroness Butler-Sloss, daughter of Sir Cecil Havers and Enid Snelling, in 1958.1
