     Captain Joseph Gurney Fowell Buxton was born on 5 July 1913.1 He was the son of Henry Fowell Buxton and Mairi Neill.2 He married Elizabeth Langley Barbour, daughter of Major Robert Barbour, on 22 April 1938.1 He died in May 1943 at age 29 at Tunisia, killed in action.1
     Captain Joseph Gurney Fowell Buxton was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Grenadier Guards.1

     Tattenhall.1 From 22 April 1938, her married name became Buxton. From 9 April 1946, her married name became Grant.1
