     Captain Joseph Gurney Fowell Buxton was born on 5 July 1913.1 He was the son of Henry Fowell Buxton and Katharine Tayspel Round.2 He married Elizabeth Langley Barbour, daughter of Major Robert Barbour, on 22 April 1938.1 He died on 23 April 1943 at age 29 at TunisiaG, killed in action.1,3
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Grenadier Guards.1

     Elizabeth Langley Barbour is the daughter of Major Robert Barbour.2 She married, firstly, Captain Joseph Gurney Fowell Buxton, son of Henry Fowell Buxton and Katharine Tayspel Round, on 22 April 1938.1 She married, secondly, Alexander Ludovic Grant, son of John Peter Grant, 13th of Rothiemurchus and Edith Mary Brewster-Macpherson, on 9 April 1946.1
     Tattenhall.1 From 22 April 1938, her married name became Buxton. From 9 April 1946, her married name became Grant.1
