     Meriel Rose Buxton was born on 16 April 1940.1 She is the daughter of Captain Joseph Gurney Fowell Buxton and Elizabeth Langley Barbour.2 She married, firstly, Robert Ivan Kenyon-Slaney, son of Major Robert Orlando Rodolph Kenyon-Slaney and Lady Mary Cecilia Rhodesia Hamilton, on 7 January 1964.1 She married, secondly, Peter Maurice Afia on 12 December 1985.1
     Meriel Rose Buxton was Extra Lady-in-Waiting to HRH Princess Alexandra.1 From 7 January 1964, her married name became Kenyon-Slaney. From 12 December 1985, her married name became Afia. She lived in 2003 at Plowden House, Hatton, Shifnal, Shropshire, England.1
