Donald Macdonald, 8th of Glengary and Morar was born in 1543.2 He was the son of Angus Macalister Macdonald, 7th of Glengarry and Janet Maclean.3 He married Margaret Macdonald, daughter of Allan Macdonald, 9th of Clanranald and Moidart and Janet Maclean.1 He married Katherine Mackintosh, daughter of Lachlan 'Mor' Mackintosh, 16th of Mackintosh, on 24 April 1590.4 He died on 2 February 1645.1
On 19 July 1574 had a charter under the Gt Seal of the lands of Glengarry.2 On 15 April 1584 legitimated under Privy Seal.4 On 5 November 1584 served heir to Margaret his gmother in half of the lands of Achuilt and to his great-great-grandfather Celestine of Lochalsh.2 On 27 March 1627 had a charter under the Great Seal, on his own resignation , of the lands of Glengarry incorporating it into a free barony.2
