     John William Campbell of Airds was born on 3 March 1836.1 He was the son of John Campbell of Airds and Hannah Elizabeth Macleod.1 He married Catherine Lyon Sophia Cavie, daughter of W. Woolby Cavie, on 24 July 1867.1
     John William Campbell of Airds fought in the Crimean War between 1854 and 1855.1 He fought in the China War in 1860.1 He gained the rank of Captain of Artillery in 1861.1 He fought in the Zhob Valley Expedition in 1884.1 He gained the rank of Colonel and Honorary Major in 1885.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1888.1

     James Campbell of Aberuchill was the son of Colin Campbell of Aberuchill and unknown Colville.2,1 He married Ann Hepburn, daughter of Patrick Hepburn of Woolling and Janet Napier.1 He died in November 1640.1
