     John Freke Evans was born on 6 February 1817.1 He was the son of Eyre Evans and Anna Maunsell.2 He married, firstly, Julia Bruce Moncrieffe, daughter of Reverend David Stewart Moncrieffe, on 27 May 1851.1 He married, secondly, Charlotte Maitland Pugh, daughter of Reverend Giles Pugh, on 12 November 1885.1 He died in 1892.1
     John Freke Evans was a practising barrister.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.).1
