     Alexander Carden was born on 12 March 1877.1 He was the son of Alexander James Carden and Anne Rule Clements.2 He died on 31 July 1900 at age 23 at South Africa, unmarried.1
     Alexander Carden fought in the Boer War, serving with the City Imperial Volunteers.1
