     Sir Nicholas Carew was born in 1404.1 He was the son of Thomas Carew and Elizabeth Bonville.2 He married Joan Courtenay, daughter of Sir Hugh de Courtenay and Philippe l'Arcedekne.1 He died on 3 May 1447.1
     His wife brought him Haccombe, near Newton Abbot, and other lands in Devon and East Cornwall.1 He lived at Carew Castle, Pembrokeshire, Wales.1
     He also had three daughters.1
