Leonard Henry Courtney, 1st and last Baron Courtney of Penwith was born on 6 July 1832.1 He was the son of John Sampson Courtney and Sarah Mortimer.1 He was baptised on 3 October 1832 at Penzance, Cornwall, England.2 He married Catharine Potter, daughter of Richard Potter and Lawrencina Heyworth, on 15 March 1883.1 He died on 11 May 1918 at age 85, without issue.1 He was buried on 15 May 1918 at Old Church, Chelsea, London, England.2
