     Caroline Elsie Johnstone-Douglas was born on 26 October 1879. She was the daughter of Arthur Henry Johnstone-Douglas and Jane Maitland Stewart.1 She married Patrick Balfour, 2nd Baron Kinross, son of John Blair Balfour, 1st Baron Kinross and Lilias Oswald Mackenzie, on 18 August 1903.1 She died on 18 February 1969 at age 89.1
      From 18 August 1903, her married name became Balfour. As a result of her marriage, Caroline Elsie Johnstone-Douglas was styled as Baroness Kinross on 22 January 1905.

     Patrick Balfour, 2nd Baron Kinross was born on 23 April 1870.1 He was the son of John Blair Balfour, 1st Baron Kinross and Lilias Oswald Mackenzie.1 He married Caroline Elsie Johnstone-Douglas, daughter of Arthur Henry Johnstone-Douglas and Jane Maitland Stewart, on 18 August 1903.1 He died on 28 July 1939 at age 69.1
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1894 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was a practising Advocate in 1897.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Kinross, of Glasclune, co. Haddington [U.K., 1902] on 22 January 1905.1 He was invested as a King's Counsel (K.C.).1 He was admitted to Brigadier of the Royal Company of Archers.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Dumfries and Galloway in 1927.1 He held the office of Advocate Depute between 1927 and 1937.1 He was director of Scottish Widows' Fund Life Assurance and the Bank of Scotland.1

     Lt.-Col. Thomas Hanmer was born on 12 April 1781.2 He was the son of Sir Thomas Hanmer, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Kenyon.1,3 He married Arabella Charlotte Bucknall, daughter of Thomas Skip Dyot Bucknall and Jane Wyndham, on 14 July 1808.2 He died on 5 November 1818 at age 37.2
     He lived at Bettisfield Park, Shropshire, England.2

     John Hanmer, 1st and last Baron Hanmer of Hanmer and Flint was born on 22 December 1809.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Thomas Hanmer and Arabella Charlotte Bucknall.1,2 He married Georgiana Chetwynd, daughter of Sir George Chetwynd, 2nd Bt. and Hannah Maria Sparrow, on 3 September 1833.3 He died on 8 March 1881 at age 71, without issue.3
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Hanmer, of Hanmer, co. Flint [G.B., 1774] on 4 October 1828.4 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shrewsbury between 1832 and 1837.3 He held the office of High Sheriff of Flint from 1832 to 1833.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hull between 1841 and 1847.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Flint Burghs between 1847 and 1872.3 He was created 1st Baron Hanmer of Hanmer and Flint, co. Flint [U.K.] on 1 October 1872.1 On his death, his title became extinct.3
