     Jacques Chappuis de la Goutte was born circa 1685.1 He was the son of Jacques-Marie Chappuis de Montaville.1 He married Sarah Coney, daughter of Richard Coney and Anne Keene, in 1728 at Battersea, London, England.1 He died on 7 February 1745 at Westminster, London, England.1
     Jacques Chappuis de la Goutte gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Regiment de Pourriere, French Army.1 He fought in the Battle of Oudenarde on 11 July 1708, where he was captured, and taken to England.1 He was also known as James Shoppee.1
