Alan Cathcart, Master of Cathcart was the son of John Cathcart, 2nd Lord Cathcart and Margaret Kennedy.2 He married Agnes Lyle, daughter of Robert Lyle, 2nd Lord Lyle, before August 1507.1 He died on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, England, killed in action.1
