     Captain William Cathcart, Master of Cathcart was born on 13 June 1782 at London, England.1 He was the son of General Sir William Schaw Cathcart, 1st Earl Cathcart and Elizabeth Elliot.2 He died on 5 June 1804 at age 21 at Jamaica, from yellow fever when commanding H.M.S. Clarinda, unmarried.1
     Captain William Cathcart, Master of Cathcart was styled as Master of Cathcart.1 He was educated after 1791 at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in March 1804 in the service of the Royal Navy.1

     Colonel Hon. Frederick McAdam of Craigangillan was born on 28 October 1789.1 He was the son of General Sir William Schaw Cathcart, 1st Earl Cathcart and Elizabeth Elliot.2 He married Jane McAdam, daughter of Quentin McAdam, on 18 October 1827.1 He died on 5 March 1865 at age 75.1
     Colonel Hon. Frederick McAdam of Craigangillan was baptised with the name of Frederick Cathcart.1 He was invested as a Knight, Order of St. Anne of Russia.1
