     George Lindsay was the son of John Lindsay and Margaret Haliburton.1 He married Margaret Bethune, daughter of Thomas Bethune of Tarvet and Ann Paterson, on 2 September 1721 at Cassingray, Fife, Scotland.2 He died on 10 February 1764.1
     He had four other sons.1 He was a practising Advocate.1 He lived at Wormiston, Fife, Scotland.1

     Margaret Bethune was born on 7 June 1704.2 She was the daughter of Thomas Bethune of Tarvet and Ann Paterson.1,2 She was baptised on 21 June 1704 at Cupar, Fife, Scotland.2 She married George Lindsay, son of John Lindsay and Margaret Haliburton, on 2 September 1721 at Cassingray, Fife, Scotland.2 She died on 23 December 1778 at age 74 at Wormiston, Fife, Scotland.2
     From 2 September 1721, her married name became Lindsay.2

     Thomas Bethune of Tarvet was born circa 1655.1 He was the son of James Bethune of Tarvet and Elizabeth Blair.1 He married, firstly, Eupham Rattray.1 He married, secondly, Ann Paterson on 30 April 1703.1
     Thomas Bethune of Tarvet lived at Kilconquhar, Fife, Scotland.2

     Henry Bethune was born circa 1736.1 He was the son of George Lindsay and Margaret Bethune.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Eccles, daughter of Martin Eccles.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Kyd, daughter of Thomas Kyd.1 He died on 11 March 1819.
     Henry Bethune was baptised with the name of Henry Lindsay.1 On 2 October 1779 his name was legally changed to Henry Bethune by Royal Licence, on inheriting Kilconquhar.1
