     Sir James Timmins Chance, 1st Bt. graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1838 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).¹ He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1848 with a Master of Arts (M.A.), ad eundem.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1868.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Worcestershire.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Staffordshire.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).¹ He was created 1st Baronet Chance, of Grand Avenue, Hove, co. Sussex [U.K.] on 19 June 1900.¹

     Elizabeth Ferguson was the daughter of George Ferguson.² She married Sir James Timmins Chance, 1st Bt., son of William Chance and Phoebe Timmins, on 26 June 1845.¹ She died on 27 August 1887.¹
     From 26 June 1845, her married name became Chance.

     Sir William Chance, 2nd Bt. was born on 2 July 1853.¹ He was the son of Sir James Timmins Chance, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Ferguson.² He married Julia Charlotte Strachey, daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Strachey, on 15 October 1884.¹ He died on 9 April 1935 at age 81, without issue.¹
     Sir William Chance, 2nd Bt. graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).¹ He was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practice as a barrister.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Chance, of Grand Avenue, Hove, co. Sussex [U.K., 1900] on 6 January 1902.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Surrey in 1911.¹

     Julia Charlotte Strachey was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Strachey.¹ She married Sir William Chance, 2nd Bt., son of Sir James Timmins Chance, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Ferguson, on 15 October 1884.¹ She died on 30 August 1949.¹
     From 15 October 1884, her married name became Chance.
