James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Clanbrassil 2
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Down from 1634 to 1635.1 He raised a regiment of Foot and a troop of Horse for the Royal cause.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount Claneboye, co. Down [I., 1622] in 1644.1 He was created 1st Earl of Clanbrassill, co. Armagh [Ireland] on 7 June 1647.1 In 1649 he submitted to the Commonwealth.1 On 1 March 1654 he was a Compounder for £9,435.1 His last will was dated 8 June 1659.
