     Sir Robert Maxwell of Orchardtoun, 1st Bt. was the son of Sir Robert Maxwell of Spottis.1 He married Anne Maclellan, daughter of Robert Maclellan, 1st Lord Kirkcudbright, before February 1639/40.1 He died before 1673.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Maxwell, of Orchardtoun [Nova Scotia] on 30 June 1663.1 He lived at Ordchardtoun, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.1 He lived at Ballycastle, County Londonderry, Ireland.1
